A working session for when you know you need to leave, and you do not yet know what you are leaving for. This is not a personality test and it does not pick for you. It gets what you already know out of your head and onto one page, so the next step stops being a fog and starts being a decision.
Before anything else. One session cannot fix a career. It can move one thing.
Rate where you actually are this month. Not where you were at your worst, and not where you hope to be. 1 is fine. 5 is this is taking something from me.
Two real options, held side by side. One rule: later only counts if it has a date and a trigger. Later without a date is not a plan, it is the fog again.
Resign, or start an active search this month.
Stay, on purpose, for a defined stretch.
If later is the answer, fill this in. If you cannot fill it in, later is not really the answer.
Three times in your career when the work fit. Not the biggest wins, the ones where you did not have to drag yourself through it. Your criteria come out of these, so keep them concrete.
Turn that pattern into a list you can hold a real job description against. Write your own. The prompts below are there to react to, not a menu to pick from. Weight each one: a dealbreaker counts triple, a nice-to-have counts once.
Tap a prompt to add it, then rewrite it in your own words. A condition you did not phrase yourself will not survive a good offer.
List the moves genuinely on the table, including the ones you keep dismissing. Score each against your own conditions. 0 is not there at all, 3 is fully there. The number is not a verdict, it is a conversation starter. Watch for where the score disagrees with your gut.
You have said you have not looked much because the job takes everything. That is worth taking seriously rather than pushing past.
You have spent this hour on what is true now. This part is what you want instead. Answer in the present tense, as if you were already there.
Not a score. A reading you can take again in a month and compare.
Everything above, on one page. Copy it, print it, or send it over.
