The Three Pillars
The three pillars of my leadership framework are Presence, Performance, and Integrity. Presence is showing up fully, in the room and in yourself. Performance is executing with intention behind the effort. Integrity is leading as one person, in every room. The pillars are fixed. The work inside them is yours.
Why three pillars
Most leadership frameworks pick one thing and call it the answer. Be more decisive. Build psychological safety. Master your time. Each of those is true. Each of those alone leaves the leader thinner than they started.
The three pillars work as a set. Presence without Performance becomes navel-gazing. Performance without Presence becomes burnout. Both without Integrity becomes a role you play instead of a life you live. Hold all three at once and the work compounds.
Presence is the skill of leaving the room in your head and stepping back into the room you are actually in. Two minutes of grounding before a decision that matters. The pause between stimulus and response that gives you a choice. The capacity to feel what is happening in your body before you act. Most leaders run on autopilot and call it focus. Presence is the alternative.
Performance is the discipline of moving the right things forward in the right order, even when the calendar is loud. Calendar ownership. Hard conversations on the day they need to happen. A weekly cadence with the team that compounds trust. Decisions that get faster and heavier at the same time. Performance is what other people see. Presence is what makes it sustainable.
Integrity closes the gap between who you are at work and who you are at home. Leadership becomes an expression of who you are instead of a costume you wear from 9 to 5. The work shows up in how you handle the lunch meeting, the bedtime story, the Sunday afternoon when nothing is required. When Integrity is real, the team feels it before they can articulate what shifted.
How the pillars show up in coaching
In The Foundation, the 90-day 1:1 engagement, we build the client's own version of all three pillars. Their definition of Presence. Their definition of Performance. Their definition of Integrity. Concrete language, not abstract. On Day 90, those definitions become The Foundation document, a personalized PDF the client keeps and references long after the work ends.
