Groundwork, the tools

The Fit Brief

Integrity20 minutes
If this is you

You've decided to go, or you're close, and every search starts at a job board with a title you're not sure is yours. Two weeks in you're applying for things that look like the last job. The last job is the reason you're leaving.

A working session for the search before the search. It doesn't tell you what to be. It gets what you already know about yourself onto one page: the work that fit, the skills you want more of, the days you'd actually want. Then it writes that as a brief you can hand to any AI, a recruiter, or me, and get back the job titles you're a real match for, where they live, and how postings for them are actually worded.

One rule the whole way through: nothing goes in the brief you didn't say yourself. Blanks stay blank.

This is an exercise I use with clients, the same one, word for word. It's on this site because it moved something for a person I was working with.

Groundwork is the newsletter. One situation, one tool like this one, and a question I read every reply to, every other Sunday. Subscribers get every tool on this site, free. Put your email in and this one opens right now.

Every other Sunday, short enough for a phone. Unsubscribe in one click. Whatever you write in the tool stays on your device.
